Marble Top Unit

Restoration Project on an old Marble Top Kitchen Unit

This piece was left in a client's old home for years which ended up having many different tenants. So the unit got neglected and the wheels on these piece had smashed to pieces leaving the metal pieces to damage the floor.

So my first job was to remove the old casters which were left on. Some needed abit of force due to rusty screws being rounded off.

Then unscrewed the rails to each end giving them a slight rub down on the metal to take off the rust Mark's. Some screws needed drilling out. Took all the handles off and prepped the drawers and the unit.

Then I used a Farrow and Ball paint and painted the unit taking care to go with the grain of the wood and follow the features of the unit.

I had done 3 coats in this paint leaving it to dry over night each time. Which left the unit with a beautiful smooth finish. I then scrapped any paint off the marble.

Waxed the whole unit in a clear wax for abit of protection. And buffed it by hand.

Fitted the handles and the rails back on. The rails needed new screws that matched.

And now my client has sold the unit to a lovely couple which have now asked for industrial wheels to be added.

Now the unit can be moved around easily and the wheels have breaks to stop it going anywhere when needed. Ideal for how they were going to use it for entertaining.
