Hourglass Table

This Hourglass Side Table Was One of My Smaller Restoration Projects

My client brought this to me asking to give a new paint job as his partner had painted it the wrong colour and neither of them liked it.

This paint was hard to strip off in some places but easy on others. I completely took the piece apart. And stripped each piece by hand which took many hours.

While stripping this hourglass I also notice the glass had paint dripped all around it which needed strip off and cleaning. The glass once paint was removed I cleaned with white vinegar and the glass came up perfect.

Undoing the complete unit I had the challenge of painting each piece individually with great care not to get any run Mark's. And let the paint dry and set each day.

Three coats were applied and a fourth for the top for extra hard wear.

Once all paint was dry and smooth I then gave it a coat of clear wax and buffed a few hours later once it was dry.

Now we have this fantastic hourglass table ready for the clients new house.

Products used on this project were:

Paint by Earthborn in the shade Nellie in an eggshell
