Cello Case

Small Restoration Project on a W. E. Hills and sons Cello Case

I found this piece in an old shop that was closing down the exterior had been bashed about for years with out any care to it. But the interior of the cello case was the winner for me. It is so vibrant and fully of colour in near mint condition with some minor signs of wear.

This case didn't need to much doing to it. As this case had been Ebonised in the past I decided to re coat the case with an ebony stain. I applied 2 coats on this piece allowing to dry for 4 hours.

The next day once all completely dry I then gave the case a couple coats of wax polish to bring it back to life once more. I could have sanded the damaged areas down but with a case like this I like the history left in each dent. Showing signs of its travelled life going to the concerts up to 100 years ago.

This was a nice simple clean up job but a job worth doing. Ready to be used for the next customer.
