19th Century Continental Bronze Dagger
A Very Unusual Continental Gothic 19th Century Revival Bronze Hilt and Sheaf Dagger
- The casting looks remarkable on the bronze
- Signs of wear due to rubbing over the years
- Depicts a female in classical clothing above a pair of angels wings along side a face of a cherub on the side of the guard. The side of the dagger reveals a skeleton shrouded with a cloth over it while standing above bat wings while the guard on the side shows a skull.
- Above both characters shows a face above them, a bearded mans face above the female and an owls face above the skeleton. The sheaf is highly decorated down to the snake wrapped around at the bottom.
- Inside the bronze sheaf holds a beautiful steal blade with some very fine etching to either side with a damask pattern almost the full length of the blade on both sides.
- Unfortunalty a small piece of the tip has been knocked off but nothing drastic.
