Antique Sicilian Painted Cart Axle

Antique 19th / early 20th century Sicilian painted cart axle. These traditional hand made decorative carts were introduced to Sicily by the ancient Greeks and are painted with scenes from classical mythology and local folklore. They are used for festive occasions such as weddings and festival parades. BELLUARADO NUNZIO COMISO is a small town to the south the Italian Isle of Sicily. This axle is painted beautifully with all the decorative creatures on it.
